Belgium has three official languages, and the translation language follows the region of the receiving authority. French (français) for Wallonia and the Brussels-Capital Region. Dutch (Nederlands) for Flanders. German (Deutsch) for the small eastern German-speaking community. The Brussels-Capital Region is officially bilingual French and Dutch, so submissions there may accept either. Get the language wrong and the documents come back, sometimes after weeks. We confirm region before quoting translation.
Sworn translation is done by a beëdigd vertaler (for Dutch) or traducteur juré (for French) sworn before a Belgian court. A general English-to-Dutch or English-to-French translation done in India is usually not accepted.
For degree equivalence, NARIC-Vlaanderen handles Flemish-side recognition and the Service de la reconnaissance académique et professionnelle des diplômes étrangers handles French-side recognition. Both want apostilled and sworn-translated input documents.
