What determines apostille cost in India
Two customers can send the "same" document and get different quotes, because the document looks the same, but the chain is not. Here is exactly what we look at before quoting.
Document type
Birth certificates, degree certificates, marriage certificates, PCC, affidavits, single status certificates, power of attorney, commercial invoices, MOA/AOA, and board resolutions all follow different authentication chains, and the chain decides the cost.
Issuing state and prior attestation
A Maharashtra-issued degree (HRD via Mantralaya) costs differently from a Karnataka-issued degree (HRD with possible personal appearance), Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerala, UP, or Rajasthan. SDM-route apostille (where the destination accepts it) is typically lighter than State HRD or Home Department attestation.
Destination country and Hague status
For Hague Apostille countries (Italy, Germany, Spain, USA, UK, Australia, Canada from Jan 2024, Saudi Arabia from 2022), MEA apostille is the final India-side step. For non-Hague countries (UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya), embassy or consulate attestation comes after MEA, adding cost and time.
Normal vs urgent processing
Normal MEA apostille is typically 2 to 3 working days after document readiness. Urgent handling (where the authority permits it) costs more. Some chains (like Qatar Embassy attestation) have no urgent option at all.
Translation requirement
Italian, Arabic, Spanish, French, German, Polish, Czech, Slovak, and Slovenian certified translation are separate from apostille. Translation is needed only when the destination authority asks for it, and the page count, language, and certified-format requirement determine the cost.
Pickup and return courier
Doorstep pickup, packaging quality, and tracked courier (Blue Dart, DHL, FedEx, DTDC Premium, UPS) to your address in India or abroad form part of the total. NRI return delivery to USA, UK, UAE, Canada, Australia, or Saudi Arabia is priced by the courier per shipment weight.
Volume and document pairs
Kuwait and Qatar accept educational documents in pairs (final degree + transcript/consolidated marksheet). Single documents will not be attested. Companies sending bulk employee credential files get coordinated handling but the total reflects the volume.
Third-party and official fees
Some destinations carry official government fees in addition to processing. UAE Embassy fees are AED 315 for personal/educational and AED 2165 for commercial documents (verify before submission). MEA, State HRD, Chamber of Commerce, and Embassy fees are passed through transparently.

Are HRD attestation fees included in apostille cost?
