Frequently Asked Questions
Can I just walk up to the MEA office in Delhi and get my document apostilled?
No, and this catches a lot of people out. MEA stopped accepting walk-in submissions from the public for apostille work several years ago. Everything goes through MEA-authorised outsourcing partners at counters in Delhi NCR. You submit at the partner counter, the document goes from there to MEA itself, and the apostilled original returns through the same counter. If you turn up at the MEA Patiala House office hoping to drop a degree directly, you will be redirected. We submit at the authorised counter every working day; for a non-Delhi resident there is genuinely no faster path than letting us handle the counter visit.
My friend's document was returned at the MEA counter for some"small issue". What is the most common small issue?
The two most common are a missing or wrong pre-MEA step, and document condition. Pre-MEA: an SDM stamp where the document needed State HRD instead, or vice versa. The counter clerk checks this in seconds and the case does not enter the MEA queue. Do originals need to be submitted?

A scan is enough for the initial review on WhatsApp; the original is then couriered to SiZA Global (or we arrange doorstep pickup in major Indian cities) for the authority steps. The original is returned by AWB-tracked courier after completion. NRIs whose originals are with family in India can coordinate the whole process remotely, the originals never leave India for the apostille step.
