The UK employer must hold a Sponsor Licence from the Home Office and the role must sit on the eligible occupation list at the required salary threshold. The employer issues a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS), a unique reference number, that the candidate submits with the visa application. ECCTIS comparability evaluation

ECCTIS (formerly UK NARIC) is the UK’s national agency for international qualification comparison. Some Skilled Worker roles, especially where the qualification needs to be confirmed equivalent to a UK degree at a specific level (e.g., RQF 6 for many roles), require an ECCTIS Statement of Comparability. We coordinate the document flow ECCTIS asks for; the assessment itself is theirs.

Experience attestation from past Indian employers

UKVI and some Sponsor Licence holders ask for attested experience letters covering recent roles in India. We coordinate experience attestation through the in-India sequence (Notary, then SDM or HRD, then MEA Apostille) where the document needs apostille for UK use, or simple attestation where the employer accepts notarised letters.

TB screening at IOM-approved centre

India-resident applicants for the Skilled Worker visa need a TB screening certificate from an IOM-approved centre. The certificate is valid for six months. We refer to approved centres; the screening is the candidate’s to complete.

Dependants on the Skilled Worker visa

Spouses, civil partners and dependent children can join on the Skilled Worker visa. The dependent visa application needs marriage certificate apostille for the spouse and birth certificate apostille for each child. We prepare both at the same time as the principal applicant’s paperwork.

The Real Worry

What you are dealing with

CoS expiry is 60 days out. The visa application window is 90 days from CoS issuance. ECCTIS comparability has not started. The TB screening centre is two weeks away. Experience attestation here in India needs three different past employers’ letters notarised and apostilled.

Does every UK Skilled Worker role need ECCTIS comparability?
No. Many roles use the qualifications listed on the eligible occupation table without requiring an ECCTIS Statement. Some roles, especially regulated professions and roles where the qualification needs to be confirmed equivalent to a specific RQF level, do require ECCTIS. The Sponsor Licence holder usually tells the candidate.
My CoS expires in 45 days. Is that enough time?
Depends on the state HRD timeline, the number of past employers needing attestation, and whether ECCTIS comparability is required. We will say plainly after a scan review whether 45 days is realistic. If it is tight, the employer can request a CoS extension in some cases.
On IELTS requirements, do all Skilled Worker visas need it?
Most non-healthcare Skilled Worker visas need English-language evidence (IELTS at the required score or another accepted test). Healthcare workers in the Skilled Worker Health and Care visa also need English evidence in most cases. The exception is candidates from majority-English-speaking countries; Indians are not in that category.
Which centres are IOM-approved for TB screening in India?
IOM-approved centres are listed on the IOM website. The major Indian cities have approved centres. The certificate is valid for six months. We refer; the screening itself is the candidate’s.
My spouse wants to work in the UK on the dependant visa. Is that allowed?
Spouses of Skilled Worker visa holders can usually work in the UK under the dependant visa, subject to the specific dependant rules in force. The marriage certificate apostille and the dependant visa paperwork move with the principal applicant’s, not after. We prepare the documentation; the work-rights confirmation is on the UKVI side.
Can SiZA apply for the Skilled Worker visa on my behalf?
No. The visa application is the candidate’s, submitted directly to UKVI through the official portal and the VFS visa centre. We prepare every India-leg document the application references and check the pack against the UKVI checklist before submission, but the submission itself is the candidate’s.
My past Indian employer has shut down. How do I get an experience letter attested?
A shut-down employer is a real document problem. Possible options: the company’s parent or successor entity if one exists, a notarised affidavit confirming the employment supported by salary records and PF transactions, or a colleague-letter format some UKVI applications accept. We will say plainly which of these fits your specific case and which one your sponsor accepts.
