Frequently Asked Questions
Does Croatia accept apostille from India?
Yes. Croatia has been a Hague Apostille member since 8 October 1991. MEA apostille from India is the final India-side stamp. No Croatian embassy attestation step. Sworn Croatian translation by a sudski tumač is usually required after apostille.
Did Croatia joining Schengen change the document process?
No. Schengen and Eurozone membership changed travel and currency, not document legalisation. The India-side steps (State HRD or SDM, MEA apostille, sworn Croatian translation) is the same as before 1 January 2023. What did change is that once you have your Croatian residence permit, you can travel within Schengen without separate visas.
I have a Croatian employer for a Single Permit. What documents do I send from India?
For the Single Permit, the typical India-side documents is apostilled and sworn-translated degree, transcripts, experience certificates, PCC, marriage and birth certificates if family is joining, and passport copy.
