If this translation is for official Germany use, you almost certainly need the sworn version, not the certified one.
German law requires sworn translation for almost every official submission (visa, university, court, notary, civil registry). A beeidigter Übersetzer (court-sworn translator) is required by law. The certified translation on this page is appropriate only for internal corporate use, business contracts, or informal verification, not for any government, embassy, or university submission.

Translate after apostille, translator format matters
- 1
Germany distinguishes between"certified translation" (acceptable for many visa purposes) and"beglaubigte Übersetzung" by a Beeidigter / öffentlich bestellter Übersetzer (required for Anerkennung credential recognition and many municipal civil-registration cases). Confirm with the destination authority before commissioning translation.
- 2
For German student visa (university admission, Studienkolleg, Studienplatz), India-side certified German translation alongside apostille is usually accepted. For Anerkennung (recognition of foreign qualifications, especially for healthcare and regulated trades), Germany-side sworn translation is often required.
- 3
Order matters: apostille the Indian document first, then translate. Translating before apostille can mean the translation has to be redone (or the apostille text re-translated). For Anerkennung files this is a common rework.
- 4
For Indian healthcare professionals applying for Anerkennung as Pflegefachkraft (nurse), Apotheker (pharmacist), or Arzt (doctor), degree, nursing qualification, registration, experience, and good standing all need consistent translation. Specialist German healthcare translators are recommended.
- 5
Germany's Anerkennung process for Indian healthcare professionals is the heaviest translation case we run. For Indian doctors going to German Approbation (Ärztekammer of the destination Land processes the application), the document set includes MBBS degree, internship completion, NMC registration, State Medical Council registration, NMC Good Standing certificate, Indian work-experience certificates, all translated to German by a court-sworn vereidigter Übersetzer of the destination Land. Bundesärztekammer (Federal Medical Chamber) coordinates inter-Land consistency. Most Indian-trained doctors are routed through the Kenntnisprüfung competency examination plus B2 medical German proficiency (telc Deutsch B2-C1 Medizin) before full Approbation.
- 6
For Indian nurses going to German Pflegefachkraft recognition, the Anerkennung process runs through the responsible Anerkennungsstelle in each Land (Brandenburg, Bayern, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Hessen, Baden-Württemberg, Sachsen, Berlin all have separate offices). BSc Nursing or GNM with Post Basic BSc bridge, INC and State Nursing Council registration, Good Standing certificate, and transcripts all need German vereidigter Übersetzer translation. Anpassungslehrgang adaptation course or Kenntnisprüfung examination is typically required for Indian-trained nurses; the documentary preparation we deliver is the precondition.
- 7
Standesamt (German civil registry) and the German municipal Bürgeramt have a strict approach to single status affidavits from non-Hague-equivalent jurisdictions. India's SDM-executed affidavit + MEA apostille + vereidigt German translation is the standard pack; some Standesämter additionally route the file through the Oberlandesgericht for Ehefähigkeitszeugnis exemption order (the German Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage that India does not issue centrally). This Oberlandesgericht route adds 8 to 16 weeks; we name it at intake for Germany-marriage cases.
- 8
Common German-bound bundles: Approbation for medical doctors through Ärztekammer; Anerkennung for nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, midwives through the Land-specific Anerkennungsstelle; APS (Akademische Prüfstelle) academic verification at the German Embassy in Delhi for university and visa applications; Familiennachzug spouse-and-child reunion visa; Skilled Worker visa with anabin-database degree comparison; Studienkolleg preparatory study for under-graduate applicants whose Indian Class 12 board does not directly qualify for German university admission. Each lane has its own German-side authority and documentary expectation.
- 9
You can't mess with people's Original documents on a German case, especially on an Approbation file where the MBBS degree, the Indian Medical Council registration, the State Medical Council registration, the experience certificates from an AIIMS or Maulana Azad Medical College, the Good Standing certificate all travel through Germany's Land-specific Anerkennungsstelle. We log each at intake, run the State HRD attestation, the MEA apostille, and the vereidigter Übersetzer translation in the destination Land. Inter-city legs use Blue Dart, DHL, FedEx, DTDC Premium, UPS. We do not use Porter, Wefast, Borzo or similar third-party parcel apps. WhatsApp the scan and the German destination (Approbation Ärztekammer, Pflegekammer recognition, APS verification, Familiennachzug, Studienkolleg); we coordinate with translators on the destination Land court register, not on a generic German translator pool.

Frequently Asked Questions
When do documents need certified translation?
Certified translation is required when an Indian document is submitted to a foreign authority whose working language is not English. Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Poland, Russia, the GCC (Arabic), and many others ask for certified translation alongside (or after) the apostille. The format varies, Italy uses Embassy-empanelled translators, Germany uses sworn translators (vereidigter Übersetzer), Spain uses Traductor Jurado, Czech Republic uses soudní tlumočník. SiZA Global confirms the accepted format for the receiving authority before translation begins.
Stories from clients on this language route

“German-language translation of my Master's degree, mark sheets, and research publications was needed for my PhD admission. “Telangana HRD for my Osmania University degree took about two weeks. SiZA handled the submission and collection, then moved to MEA apostille. They also confirmed whether my documents needed APS verification on top of apostille , they did, and SiZA gave me guidance on that next step. Very thorough.”

“I handle Italy, Germany, and Czech applications. All apostille and translation work goes to SiZA. They track every file, give me status updates without me chasing, and have never missed a consulate deadline for any of my clients. I've tried three other services , none came close to this level of accountability.”
Manisha Gupta

“My US university required official certified English translations of my degree and transcripts. The translations SiZA provided were accepted immediately. They formatted everything exactly as the university required and included the certification statement. No back and forth at all.”
Kavitha Rajan

“Italy requires Italian translation done by an empanelled translator for study visa documents. SiZA provided the translation with the translator's seal and declaration. The Italian consulate in Chennai accepted the translations without asking for any corrections. I'd tried another service before SiZA , that translation was rejected. The difference was obvious.”
