Hague Apostille Convention member
Poland accepts MEA apostille since 2005
For Indian documents going to Poland, the India-side chain ends at MEA apostille, no destination embassy attestation is required. The pre-MEA step depends on document type (State HRD for educational, SDM or Home Department for civil, Chamber of Commerce for commercial). Certified translation is paired separately where the receiving authority requires it.
Poland apostille work from India is dominated by three flows that work differently: skilled IT and engineering professionals heading to Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław and Poznań on Type D National visas and EU Blue Card; students applying to Polish universities including Jagiellonian, Warsaw University of Technology, AGH and the Medical Universities; and family / dependent files. Poland is a Hague Apostille Convention member, so the India-side chain is State HRD (educational) or SDM / Home Department (civil) before MEA apostille.
After apostille, Poland requires certified Polish translation by a tłumacz przysięgły (sworn translator) registered with the Polish Ministry of Justice for almost every authority and university submission. English translation is not accepted by Polish authorities at visa or registration stage; the sworn-translation step is one of the costliest places to under-budget on Poland-bound files. Translation is prepared after the apostille so the apostille stamp and the pre-MEA seal are translated alongside the document body, by a registered Polish sworn translator.
Regulated professions in Poland go through their own Polish chambers after the apostille and translation: Naczelna Izba Lekarska (Polish Medical Chamber) for doctors, Naczelna Izba Pielęgniarek i Położnych for nurses and midwives, Polska Izba Inżynierów Budownictwa for civil engineers, Krajowa Rada Radców Prawnych for legal counsel. Each chamber decides whether the Indian qualification is treated as equivalent to Polish standards and what additional bridging steps are required.

SiZA Global confirms the chain, the realistic working-day timeline for your State HRD, the Polish sworn-translation page count, and a written quote that separates HRD fee, MEA fee, Polish translation fee and SiZA service fee before originals move.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the process take?
End-to-end timelines depend on five factors: the issuing state, whether university verification is required, the document type (educational vs civil vs commercial), the destination country's chain (Hague apostille vs non-Hague embassy attestation), and any translation requirement. A typical apostille-only file is 7-15 working days; a file with HRD + apostille + translation is 12-25 working days; a non-Hague embassy attestation file with all chain steps is 15-30 working days. SiZA Global shares a written, case-specific timeline after the scan review.
What is an apostille?
An apostille is a single official stamp issued by India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on the back of an Indian document. Once placed, the document is accepted in any country that is a member of the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention, about 125 countries today, including the USA, UK, Italy, Germany, France, Saudi Arabia (since 2022), and Canada (since 2024). For non-Hague destinations such as UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, and Egypt, MEA apostille alone is not enough, the document needs MEA attestation plus the destination country's embassy attestation in India.
Is apostille required for Saudi Arabia?
Saudi Arabia joined the Hague Apostille Convention in December 2022. For Indian documents going to Saudi Arabia today, MEA apostille (after the relevant pre-step, State HRD for educational documents, SDM or Home Department for civil documents) is the standard India-side authentication. The previous Saudi Embassy + Cultural Attaché route was discontinued in December 2022; some Saudi employers still ask for QVP / Mosaddaqa qualification verification or SCFHS DataFlow PSV separately for licensed professions. SiZA Global confirms which parallel tracks apply to your specific Saudi file at scan review.
