If this translation is for official Czech Republic use, you almost certainly need the sworn version, not the certified one.

Czech law requires sworn translation for almost every official submission (visa, university, court, notary, civil registry). A soudní tlumočník (court-sworn translator) is required by law. The certified translation on this page is appropriate only for internal corporate use, business contracts, or informal verification, not for any government, embassy, or university submission.

Switch to Sworn Czech Translation

Czech work that lands at a Czech Ministry of Interior counter or a Charles University admissions desk or a regional residence-permit office reads only one form of translation: the stamped output of a soudní tlumočník, the court-sworn translator registered with the Czech Ministry of Justice. India-side certified Czech does not pass that counter. The Czech Embassy in New Delhi takes the hard-copy of the soudní tlumočník document for visa work, which adds an international courier leg from the translator in the Czech Republic to our Noida office and on to the customer.

Czech sworn translation is prepared after the apostille. Sequencing matters: the Czech translator stamps and certifies the translation against the full apostilled document (apostille stamp text, HRD seal, MEA stamps, and the document body), which is what the receiving Czech authority compares. A translation prepared before the apostille has to be re-done after the apostille is added, doubling the cost. We schedule the work so the translator receives the fully apostilled document.

Common Czech-bound translation submissions include: degree certificate + transcript for nostrifikace at a Czech university (Charles University, Masaryk, Palacký, VŠCHT, the Medical Universities); civil documents (birth, marriage, PCC) for student-dependant inclusion, Long-Term Residence Permit family reunion, or Employee Card dependant; and commercial / employment documents for EU Blue Card and Employee Card work. Translation page count for a degree-plus-transcript pair is typically 6 to 10 pages depending on the issuing university format.

Czech university nostrification (recognition of foreign qualifications) for Indian degrees runs through each receiving Czech university's academic office, not through a central agency. Charles University Prague, Masaryk University Brno, Palacký University Olomouc, VŠCHT Prague, Czech Technical University Prague, and the medical universities (Charles University Plzeň, Masaryk Brno medical faculty, Palacký Olomouc medical faculty) each run nostrification on the apostilled and sworn-Czech-translated documents the applicant submits. The university decision determines whether direct admission is possible, whether differential examinations are required, or whether the degree is not recognised for further study at that level.

The Czech residency landscape for Indian applicants in 2026: Employee Card for skilled employment (Modra karta / EU Blue Card for highly-qualified roles), Long-Term Residence Permit for study or family reunion, short-term Schengen D visa for under-90-day study or work. Each category submits at the Embassy of Czech Republic New Delhi or at VFS Czech Republic in India, with the apostilled and Czech-sworn-translated documents in the application bundle. The Czech Ministry of Interior reviews family-reunion cases through a regional Department for Asylum and Migration Policy (OAMP) office after the visa interview.

Czech translation cost is materially higher than Spanish or Italian because of the Czech Embassy in New Delhi's hard-copy-only acceptance: the printed and stamped soudní tlumočník translation has to ship from the Czech Republic to India by international courier, adding 3 to 7 days and EUR 30 to 60 in courier costs to the translator's base fee. For a standard degree-plus-transcript bundle of 6 to 10 translated pages, end-to-end Czech sworn translation (including the courier leg) typically lands 14 to 25 working days after the apostille is on the Indian original. We name the courier-leg cost separately in the quote so the customer can see the breakdown.

You can't mess with people's Original documents on a Czech case. The degree going to Charles University for nostrifikace, the marriage certificate going to a Czech matriční úřad, the medical degree going to Czech Medical Chamber registration; we run the State HRD or SDM as document type asks, the MEA apostille, then the Czech soudní tlumočník translation that ships hard-copy from Prague to Noida by international courier. Inter-city legs in India use Blue Dart, DHL, FedEx, DTDC Premium, UPS. We do not use Porter, Wefast, Borzo or similar third-party parcel apps. WhatsApp the scan and the Czech recipient; we confirm the timing, the hard-copy courier cost factor (the Czech Embassy in New Delhi accepts only hard-copy sworn translation), and a written quote that names the courier leg separately.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    What documents are required?

The exact list depends on the file. For a degree apostille, the original degree certificate is the core document, with transcripts / consolidated marksheets, passport copy, and the destination authority's checklist as supporting. For a birth certificate apostille, the original municipal-corporation-issued certificate plus identity proof. For a marriage certificate apostille, the original registered civil certificate (Sub-Registrar / Marriage Registrar issued, not just religious ceremony). SiZA Global reviews the specific file scans on WhatsApp and confirms the exact document set required before originals move.

How long does the process take?

End-to-end timelines depend on the issuing state, university verification, document type, destination country and translation requirement. MEA apostille itself takes 2 to 4 working days, or 24 hours on urgent processing if the next day is a working day. State HRD timings vary by state, for example Maharashtra takes 25 to 35 working days, Gujarat takes 10 to 30 working days, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh take 10 to 15 working days, and Kerala takes 20 to 30 working days. For non-Hague countries, embassy and MOFA steps are added separately.

Do originals need to be submitted?

Yes. HRD, SDM, Home Department, MEA apostille, and embassy attestation are all physical-stamping processes on the original document. A scan is enough for the initial review on WhatsApp; the original is then couriered to SiZA Global (or we arrange doorstep pickup in major Indian cities) for the authority steps. The original is returned by AWB-tracked courier after completion. NRIs whose originals are with family in India can coordinate the whole process remotely, the originals never leave India for the apostille step.

When do documents need certified translation?

Certified translation is required when an Indian document is submitted to a foreign authority whose working language is not English. Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Poland, Russia, the GCC (Arabic), and many others ask for certified translation alongside (or after) the apostille. The format varies, Italy uses Embassy-empanelled translators, Germany uses sworn translators (vereidigter Übersetzer), Spain uses Traductor Jurado, Czech Republic uses soudní tlumočník. SiZA Global confirms the accepted format for the receiving authority before translation begins.
