DoV Italy Document Support from India
DoV (Dichiarazione di Valore) is the Declaration of Value the Italian Embassy issues on your Indian academic record. To prepare a DoV file from India, we work backwards from what the Embassy of Italy in New Delhi expects. The final degree or school certificate has to have State HRD where your university is, then MEA apostille. SDM is not accepted on study certificates for DoV. Marksheets and transcripts go through the same chain. If your passport name does not match the degree, a One and Same Certificate from the competent Tehsildar for your residence is the right fix (not an affidavit). For Class 12, the DigiLocker marksheet with apostille is accepted in the New Delhi DoV process.

For New Delhi guidance, the Embassy DoV page asks for the final degree or school certificate with HRD authentication and apostille, and it specifically does not accept SDM stamp for that final certificate. It also asks students to handle name mismatch through a competent Tehsildar-issued One and Same certificate where applicable, not a normal affidavit.

Frequently Asked Questions
For Italy DoV, can I use SDM instead of HRD on my degree?
For New Delhi DoV guidance, do not use SDM as a safe substitute. The Embassy DoV page asks for the final degree or school certificate with HRD authentication and apostille, and specifically says SDM stamp is not accepted for that certificate. Students should still verify the current jurisdiction and course instruction.
Which documents should I keep together for DoV?
Keep passport, final degree or school certificate, marksheets or transcript, admission letter, Universitaly pre-enrolment summary where applicable, grading or credit information if needed, and any university instruction together. DoV is easier to prepare when the academic story is complete instead of scattered across five folders.
What if my passport name and degree name do not match?
For New Delhi DoV, do not assume a notarized affidavit will work. The Embassy DoV page says a One and Same certificate from the competent Tehsildar may be required, and affidavits are not accepted for that mismatch case.
Is DoV compulsory for every Indian student in Italy?
No. DoV depends on the Italian university, course, qualification, and current official checklist. Some universities may accept CIMEA or another evaluation instruction. The student should verify the university and current Embassy/VFS guidance before preparing the file.
Should Italian translation be done before or after apostille?
For DoV and Italy study files, translation is usually safer after HRD and MEA apostille where those marks must appear in the Italian translation. Translating an unauthenticated version can lead to repeat translation after apostille.
